ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE

What is climate change?

Many studies have shown the gradual warming of the Earth and have proved that human activity is causing it; the release of heat-trapping greenhouse gases from fossil fuel combustion, deforestation and the inefficient land use. Many people also try to deny this, despite the evidence that is shoved in their faces.

"But what does this have to do with me...?"

Climate change is real and it’s happening right now while you read this on your device. Your carbon emissions aren’t simply the CO2 you’re breathing out. That amount is miniscule compared to the carbon emissions from all the stuff you have in your house. Unless you have a green energy provider, your house gets its energy from a provider that uses fossil fuels, releasing a large amount of greenhouse gases.

If the emissions of the two biggest polluters every year, the USA and China, and were gathered over them, it would create a 30 mile thick layer of pure carbon dioxide. Unlivable, right? Not if every person goes green.

I know what you’re thinking. “But don’t plants remove CO2? The Earth will cool down naturally.” The problem is, humans are putting more gases in the air than can be removed by natural processes. Which is why, we the people, have to step in, and correct this blunder caused by our predecessors.

You, and me, and everyone on this planet holds the key to the future. All it takes is one caring person to spark a change. That could be you. There is no reason why ordinary people can’t make a difference. We can and we will, by doing small, do-able things.
